Accessibility Statement
This site has been built with accessibility in mind, and implements the following accessibility features.
Access keys
Access keys are a way of jumping directly to specific links by pressing keys, and are supported by most browsers. On a Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key; on Windows, you can press ALT + an access key (you may have to press the Enter key as well). Every page defines the following access keys:
- Access key 1 - Home page
- Access key 2 - Search box
- Access key 9 - Email the Adelphi Hotel
- Access key 0 - Accessibility statement
Standards compliance
All pages validate as XHTML 1.0 Strict and use structured semantic markup.
Navigation aids
All pages have a home link to aid navigation in text-only browsers and screen readers. Mozilla users can also take advantage of this feature by selecting the View menu, Show/Hide, Site Navigation Bar, Show Only As Needed (or Show Always). Opera 7 has similar functionality. All pages include a search box (access key 2).
Links
Many links have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail. There are no "javascript:" pseudo-links. All links can be followed in any browser, even if scripting is turned off. There are no links that open new windows without warning.
Images
All content images used in the home page and all archives include descriptive ALT attributes.
Visual design
This site and all its archives use cascading style sheets for visual layout. If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets at all, the content of each page is still readable. However, the site certainly looks its best in a browser that supports web standards, like Firefox, Netscape 7, Opera, Safari or Internet Explorer 6.
